Warrant: Man received money to haul lumber, but never did the work
A Coosa man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with theft by deception.
According to an arrest warrant:
35-year-old Vernon Blake Smith Jr. was paid over $3,500 to haul loads of lumber between December 21 of last year and March 20 of this year, but never did the work.
Stolen trailer found using GPS
A Rome man is facing a theft by receiving charge following his arrest over the weekend.
According to an arrest warrant:
63-year-old Charles Anthony West, of an Old Dalton Road address, was in possession of a utility trailer that he knew or should have known had been stolen.
He put the trailer behind the home of a family member on Boyd Valley Road, where it was hidden from view for approximately three days.
The trailer, valued at $2,500, was located with the use of GPS that had been mounted on it by the finance company.
Man charged with false imprisonment
A 25-year-old West Rome man was arrested Saturday following an incident at his Chief Vann Drive residence.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Christopher Weldon Vulliet stood at the doorway of a woman’s vehicle, preventing her from leaving.
He also put his hands on the victim’s shoulders and threw her car key, damaging it.
When police arrived, Vulliet fled and hid.
He is charged with false imprisonment, obstruction, criminal trespass with damage to property, and simple battery.
Two arrested on drug charges
Two Rockmart teens were arrested on Highway 101 at Rockdale Drive over the weekend on felony counts of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
A vehicle driven by 19-year-old Zylen Reshard Middlebrooks was stopped for speeding.
Middlebrooks and 18-year-old Xavier Williams were then found with 44.5 grams of marijuana and three firearms.
Reports: Summerville men found with THC during traffic stop
Two Summerville men were arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop on Highway 27 North at Depot Street in the Armuchee area late last week.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
30-year-old Josh Aaron Shepard and 31-year-old Tommy Ryan Meadows were found in possession of THC wax.
Both are charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Shepard was additionally charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
