Man arrested on an aggravated assault charge
A 45-year-old Rome man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with aggravated assault and battery.
According to the warrants:
Kenneth Anthony Davenport wrapped his arm around a woman’s neck and squeezed, causing the victim to temporarily struggle to breathe.
He also attempted to take the victim’s cell phone and caused substantial, visible harm to the woman.
The incident occurred on Friday, according to the warrant.
Gordon County man arrested on an attempted aggravated child molestation charge
Floyd County Police arrested a Calhoun man Tuesday on charges of criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, obscene internet contact with a child, and use of a computer to solicit a child.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
26-year-old Benjamin Thomas Taylor made online contact with someone he believed to be under the age of 16.
He then engaged in graphic conversations, describing sex acts.
He then drove to an undisclosed location in Floyd County to meet the person for sex.
Taylor was also charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana at the time of his arrest.
Report: Man fell through apartment ceiling while trying to evade arrest
A 24-year-old Rome man was arrested Tuesday at his Alabama Highway residence on charges of criminal damage to property, loitering or prowling, and a probation violation.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Timothy Matthew Bisop Jr. entered an apartment attic access to evade arrest and fell through the ceiling of a neighbor’s apartment, resulting in a significant amount of debris and repairs having to be made.
Man charged with auto theft
A North Rome man is facing charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle and simple battery following his arrest Tuesday.
According to the arrest warrants:
37-year-old Demetrius Lamond Glenn took a 2013 Chevy Equinox valued at $7,000 on April 7.
Glenn also struck a woman in the face with his hand, causing redness and a small scratch behind the victim’s right ear.
Woman accused of using a storage unit that did not belong to her
A Rome woman has been arrested on a felony warrant charging her with theft of services.
According to the warrant:
41-year-old Jennifer Michelle Smith used a storage unit on Martha Berry Highway that didn’t belong to her to store her belongings.
Smith is also charged with criminal trespass.
Woman facing charges after allegedly having drugs while at the jail
A woman arrested for shoplifting at the East Rome Walmart is facing additional charges after she was reportedly found with drugs once at the Floyd County Jail.
According to jail records:
24-year-old Amanda Lee LeCroy admitted that she concealed merchandise from the store in her backpack.
In addition to shoplifting, LeCroy is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drugs past the guard line.
