Police arrest man on child cruelty charges

A second arrest has been made in connection with an alleged child cruelty case at a home on Denson Lane in Rome.

According to the arrest warrant:

39-year-old Michael Jason Bovee deprived four children of necessary sustenance to the extent that their health and well-being were jeopardized. The report added that the home was unsafe for human habitation.

Bovee is charged with four counts of 1st-degree cruelty to children and four counts of contributing to the deprivation of a child.

40-year old Tina Marie Bovee was arrested the day before on the same charges.

Report: Man drove to Floyd County for sex acts with ‘minor’

A man from Whitesburg, Georgia was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on charges of criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, furnishing obscene materials to a minor, electronic enticement of a child, obscene internet contact with a child, and sexual exploitation of children.

According to jail records:

36-year-old Robin Lewis Gamble made online contact with someone he believed to be under 16 years old, then engaged in graphic conversations, sent lewd pictures of himself, and asked for sexual acts.

He then traveled from his home to meet the person for sex.

Two arrested on felony drug charges

What started as a traffic stop for failure to maintain a lane on East 2nd Avenue at Glenn Milner Boulevard Tuesday ended with the arrest of two women on felony drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

55-year-old Melissa Ann Jackson and 31-year-old Chaquita Li’Chelle Jackson were charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute after the Rome Police K-9 unit seized approximately two pounds of marijuana.

Chaquita Jackson was hit with additional charges after the execution of a search warrant at her King Street home turned up multiple bags of marijuana weighing over an ounce and a semi-automatic handgun.
