Woman charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A 39-year-old Rome woman was jailed Sunday on three counts of aggravated animal cruelty.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Heather Pinkard Weaver failed to provide adequate food for three dogs, causing them to lose body fat and muscle mass to the point where they had a bony appearance.

The dogs were discovered at Weaver’s Bay Dar Road residence on January 6, according to the reports.

Report: Woman stole from the elderly

A Rome woman has been arrested on felony warrants charging her with theft by taking and exploitation of the elderly.

According to the warrants:

44-year-old Shannon Lee Mount spent $4,529.26 from the victims’ account, as well as another $665 in fees over the course of three months, causing the victims to overdraft 19 times between August 12 and December 6.

Report: Man broke into home, tried to open a beer

A homeless man is accused of entering someone else’s residence and trying to open a beer in the kitchen.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The burglary occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence on South Division Street.

49-year-old Jonathan Brent Smith is charged with 1st-degree burglary, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged in burglary on Southern Street

A 55-year-old homeless man has been arrested in connection with a burglary on Southern Street early Monday morning.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Ricky Lee Jones took property belonging to the victim and intentionally caused damage to the home by breaking one of the windows.

At the time of his arrest on Burnett Street, Jones was also found in possession of three wristwatches and a vanity license plate that had all been stolen.

He is charged with 1st-degree burglary, and misdemeanor counts of theft by taking, theft by receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass.

Man facing drug charges

A 41-year-old Rome man is facing charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Patrick Rodricas Smith used a cell phone to contact another man for the purpose of possessing methamphetamine back on November 16.

Alabama man charged with shoplifting, cocaine possession

A man initially arrested on a felony shoplifting charge is also facing drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

24-year-old Hayden James Merritt of Cedar Bluff, Alabama concealed and attempted to steal $1,331.54 in merchandise at the Home Depot on Hicks Drive.

He was then found with suspected cocaine.
