A 420,750 square feet warehouse custom-built for The Hillman Group in Shannon has been completed. The project is a joint venture between MDH Partners, an Atlanta-based real estate investment company, and Hight Knox Properties, a privately funded real estate investment group. The completed building is projected to provide 200 jobs to the local economy, with 144 transferring from an existing location and 50 new positions.
“Delivering The Hillman Group Building marks a major milestone for the project team,” said Chris Stanley, Senior Managing Director at MDH Partners. “The completion of this project brings new jobs that will stimulate the local economy and bolster economic growth. A major driver of Rome – Floyd County’s economy is manufacturing/distribution and we are proud to bring exciting new opportunities to the growing labor force in this area.”
Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, The Hillman Group is an industry leader in builder solutions and a supplier of hardware items and accessories. The company engineers and delivers more than 112,000 products to top home improvement retailers nationwide. Currently, The Hillman Group operates three separate facilities in Rome, Smyrna, and Adairsville, Georgia. The newly delivered building will combine the entire operation under one roof for increased efficiencies and serve as a distribution center for its Protective Solutions division.
Located at 6695 New Calhoun Hwy NE and situated on nearly 58 acres, the Hillman Group Building features 210 parking spaces, 107 exterior dock doors, and 36-foot clear heights. The facility offers close proximity to Highway 53, and I-75, providing interstate access to Atlanta’s I-285 loop. In addition, the Hillman Group Building is positioned with convenient access to other major supply lines along the Southeast and is located fewer than 70 miles from the Hartsfield Jackson International Airport.
“It’s been a pleasure to work with the Rome-Floyd County Development Authority and the economic development team. In addition to the incentives provided to help secure valuable jobs for Floyd County, the Rome-Floyd County building department was instrumental in streamlining the review, permitting, and inspection of the construction project,” said Hardman Knox, Partner at Hight Knox Properties. “We join our development partner, MDH Partners, in welcoming Hillman to their new Class A distribution facility.”
