The March will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the corner of First Avenue and Broad Street and proceed to the Rome City Auditorium where a noon-day program will occur.

“Our keynote speaker will be Stephen Samuel,” said Rome Mayor Sundai Stevenson, who also serves on the local King Commission. “Stephen grew up in Rome and is the son of Ms. Willie Mae Samuel. For years, Ms. Samuel was in charge of our Friday night program. She is the founder and director of the African-American Connective for Performing Arts. On Monday, we will honor Ms. Samuel for what she has done and has meant to this commission over the years.”

The celebration will conclude with a drive-thru lunch at the Rome Civic Center at 12:30 p.m.
