Charges filed in December wreck that claimed the life of a Rome man

Charges have been filed in a fatal wreck that occurred last month on Martha Berry Boulevard.

According to the arrest warrants:

22-year-old Srilaysa Valom of Cumming turned left onto North Fifth Avenue from Martha Berry, and into the path of another vehicle, driven by 39-year-old Brian Daniel Byrd Jr. of Rome.

Byrd died from injuries sustained in the wreck that occurred on Dec. 2.

Valom is charged with 2nd-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to yield, both misdemeanors.

Plainville man facing drug charges

A Plainville man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on felony warrants charging him with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act and use of a communications facility to commit a crime involving drugs.

According to the warrants:

49-year-old Patrick O’Neal Carr used a telecommunications device to arrange the delivery, transport and sale of approximately 28 grams of methamphetamine.

The alleged incident occurred between Oct. 18 and Oct. 19, 2022.

Report: Child left unattended in room with narcotics

The execution of a search warrant on Oakwood Drive early Friday ended with the arrest of a Rome woman on multiple charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Officers found more than an ounce of cocaine, more than an ounce of marijuana packaged for resale, and multiple oxycodone pills.

A young child was left unattended in the room with narcotics and an unsecured firearm.

34-year-old Nicole Lynn Sexton is charged with felony counts of possession of cocaine and marijuana, possession of cocaine and marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, 2nd-degree cruelty to children, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Search warrant leads to drug arrests

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officer found more than an ounce of both cocaine during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Runway Drive, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

54-year-old Glenn Everett Alexander was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine, and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.

Another person in the home, 18-year-old Armani Monette Alexander, was charged with felony possession of marijuana after she was found with more than an ounce of marijuana.

Man charged with stealing from his employer

A 47-year-old Rome man who was recently arrested on drug charges following the execution of a search warrant on Rockmart Road is facing an additional felony charge of theft by taking.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Tykela Ravon Stubbs stole $1,500 in merchandise from his employer, an auto parts store.

Stubbs took the items to his home, where he stored them.
