Rome Redevelopment Committee, Alcohol Control Commission hold meetings Wednesday

June 21, 2022–5:13 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

The Rome Redevelopment Committee will get updates regarding a couple of proposed Tax Allocation Districts when they meet this afternoon.

The committee is looking at TADs for North Rome and the Martha Berry Corridor.

Tax Allocation Districts, often called Tax Increment Financing in other states, are a popular mechanism for revitalizing blighted or underutilized areas such as brownfields, declining commercial corridors, and industrial sites.

Under a TAD, net new property taxes go back to the developer for a certain period of time to help defray development costs.

Today’s Rome Redevelopment Committee meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. in the Sam King Room at Rome City Hall.

The Rome Alcohol Control Commission will consider approval of a couple of alcohol licenses when they meet this afternoon.

Felipe Martinez is seeking a new beer package license for The Market Place on East 12th Street, and Rontavious Coley is asking for a new beer and wine pouring license for The Early Way at 200 Broad Street.

Today’s ACC meeting begins at 5 p.m. at Rome City Hall.
