FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS
The Floyd County School System is the apparent victim of a spearphishing incident, which is a targeted email attack pretending to be from a trusted sender.
This cyber-attack resulted in nearly $195,000 being stolen from the school system by an outside source.
According to a news release from the school system, they are working with local law enforcement, GEMA, GBI, and insurance officials to recover the funds.
Because of the cyber security measures FCS has put in place over the past few years, school system officials believe this is an isolated incident.
