Cancer Navigators fundraiser this Sunday

June 4, 2022–4:32 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

This Sunday you can run or walk to raise money for cancer patients in Northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama.

Sunday is National Cancer Survivors Day, according to Sara Husser with Cancer Navigators.

“We have been hosting an event on that day for several years, and this year we are hosting our first-ever fun run/walk,” she said.  “It’s a one-mile walk at Barron Stadium that will take place at 2 p.m.”

You can participate for just $15 and all participants will receive a medal.

There is also a virtual 5K option.

“You can register online and you can run, walk or bike,” Husser added.  “The price for it is $30, and you get both a t-shirt and a medal.  You can register for the virtual race through midnight Sunday night, and anyone who registers for the virtual race is also welcome to come out and do the fun run/walk on Sunday at no additional charge.”

There will also be a daisy drop Sunday at 3 p.m.

“Cancer Navigators staff will be set up on the Courtyard by Marriot side of the bridge and we will have daisies,” Husser explained.  “People can come anytime between 3 and 4.  We will have someone playing the bagpipes and people can take daisies and drop them in honor or in memory of those affected by cancer.”

Cancer Navigators provides free resources and services to cancer patients as well as their families and caregivers.
