AHS sophomore wins DAR high school essay contest

NEWS RELEASE

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Xavier Chapter, recently announced and would like to congratulate Armuchee High School sophomore Emalee Grace Collins for winning the American Revolution DAR High School Essay Contest at the Chapter level and at the Northwest Georgia State DAR District level as well!  Her winning essay will advance to the State, and they wish her the best of luck at this next level of competition.

She and eight other area students submitted essays in grades 9-12 last Fall to the Xavier Chapter DAR in Rome, Georgia. Students were tasked with writing an essay focusing on a patriot of the American Revolution from the era between 1773-1783.

Emalee will be presented with a winning certificate, medal, and a cash prize for being the Chapter winner on April 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Spires At Berry College. Their guest speaker will be Rome’s very own, legendary, Mr. Earl Tillman and the esteemed DAR State Regent, Ms. OB McCorkle.
