Brock named Fire Chief of the Year

Rome/Floyd County Fire Chief Troy Brock has been named the 2021 Fire Chief of the Year by the Georgia State Firefighters Association.

Brock was sworn in as the Fire Chief for Rome/Floyd County Fire Department on April 17, 2015.

He started his career with the department in 1990 as a rookie firefighter.

He was promoted through the ranks of the department serving in each capacity. 

The GSFA also awarded Captain Benji Smith, Sergeant John Wiggins, Corporal Danny McGhee with the 2021 Valor Award.

They were recognized for saving the lives of two children during a fire on Washington Street in June of last year.
