Free Clinic of Rome Tomato Sandwich Supper fundraiser on Friday

August 5, 2021–7:12 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

The Free Clinic of Rome will hold its one and only fundraiser this Friday evening.

The 8th annual Tomato Sandwich Supper is from 5 until 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in the Wilder Center.

“We do serve good ‘ol tomato sandwiches,” said Renee Blackburn with the Free Clinic of Rome.  “We actually serve a whole meal along with those.  We have great homemade desserts that so many people in the community donate to us.  We have a silent auction.  Georgia Mountain Music comes and entertains and we also have a live cake auction.”

Proceeds will help provide healthcare for Rome and Floyd County residents who do not have insurance.

“It’s wonderful to us, simply because the dollars that come in are community-driven,” Blackburn said.  “We are not state or federally funded.  We are supported by folks here in the community…..The hospitals, the churches, and the people who live here in the community.  And we serve those who are our neighbors.  There are so many people that you may see backing out of their driveway every day, going to work, but that doesn’t mean that their job provides insurance for them.”

Tickets are $10 each, or $25 for a family of three.

Advance tickets are available at the Georgia’s Rome Gift Shop on Jackson Hill.

Tickets will also be available at the door.
