Downtown Rome’s open container trial period begins Thursday.
The trial period will last until October 30 on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. each day.
It applies only to the downtown district.
Anyone 21 and older can purchase an adult beverage from any downtown establishment that sells alcohol and enjoy it on the sidewalks, green spaces, and along the rivers.
The drinks must be sold in a plastic or aluminum cup of no more than 20 ounces.
Drinking from a can, bottle, or glass is prohibited.
