Rome to host planning sessions for state child abuse prevention plan

June 14, 2021–7:25 p.m.

NEWS RELEASE

The Prevention and Community Support Section at the Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS PCS) and Prevent Child Abuse Georgia (PCA Georgia) are now preparing for the Regional Implementation Planning process for Georgia’s recently released Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Plan (https://abuse.publichealth.gsu.edu/canpp/).

The Exchange Club Family Resource Center has been asked to serve as the local convener for DFCS Region 3; all 14 Regions will go through a similar three-session series in 2021.

Our region includes Bartow, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties.

The first meeting with our region will be held on Friday 6/25 at 9:30 a.m., with the second meeting on Friday 7/16, and the third and final session on Friday 8/27.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, these will be virtual meetings (Zoom). To see the full schedule and register for the sessions, use this form: https://forms.gle/RgPzUHfjGfF9M8WVA.Here’s what we hope to accomplish across the three dates:

Session 1: Prioritize top-five strategies from the State CAN Prevention Plan, and identify major steps.

Session 2: For each priority, begin a Regional Action Register (major steps, leads, participants, technical assistance needs, and progress indicators).

Session 3: Review and refine Regional Action Registers (timeline, evaluation, resource requirements, and dependencies), review draft of the Regional Action Plan template, and identify next steps and adjourn.

It is hoped that participants can join all three sessions because each builds on the work of the previous one.PCA Georgia is working with Advantage Consulting (the same consultants that worked with them on developing the plan) to facilitate the sessions, and PCA Georgia and DFCS PCS will provide technical support to the convening organization in each region.
