Floyd County Police Department –
A single-vehicle wreck on Cave Spring Highway at Morgan Dairy Road Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a 53-year old man.
Witnesses told Floyd County Police that Emerson “Mack” Abbott was attempting to pass a line of vehicles but realized he didn’t have time to make the pass.
Abbott tried to get back in his lane and lost control of his Chevy Silverado, which left the roadway and flipped several times.
A medical helicopter was flown into the area for emergency transport.
Traffic in the area was impacted after Floyd County Police asked the public to find alternate routes away from the Highway as it was temporarily shut down.
