A Floyd County Police car was struck during a traffic stop on Highway 411 near the Bartow County line Tuesday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol,  the Floyd County Police Department patrol car was stopped on the south shoulder of the highway with its flashing blue lights activated.

A Honda Accord, driven by a 31-year old white male, was traveling east.

The Honda failed to maintain its lane of travel by crossing the right fog line.

The Honda struck the left rear of the patrol car with its right front.

Impact with the Honda caused the patrol vehicle to rotate further off the south shoulder.

After impact, the Honda also rotated across both eastbound lanes of Highway 411 and into the median.

The Floyd County Police Officer, a 26-year old white male, was transported to Floyd Medical, by ambulance, with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda suffered visible injuries but refused medical treatment.
