Tuesday (June the 1st) was a busy day for Rome/Floyd First Responders:
– Rome Police made an arrest on Second Avenue near Broadstreet after a suspect allegedly stole a tractor-trailer truck. Police apprehended the suspect without incident. More details to come on this arrest after the Police Report is released.
 
-Two separate wrecks occurred at the intersection of Broadstreet and Turner McCall Blvd (One of the wrecks involved a Floyd County Sheriff’s Office vehicle). The Rome Police Department had to direct heavy traffic in the area. Georgia State Patrol was called in to assist aide. 
 
– A Floyd County Police Car was struck during a traffic stop at the Bartow County line. 9-11 Dispatch reported that another vehicle struck the police car and pushed it into a ditch (totaling it). 
 
– Rome-Floyd firefighters were dispatched to battle a structure fire at Old Dalton Road. Upon arriving at the scene, the fire department found the abandoned residence was fully involved.
