A Rome businessman has been sentenced to 25 years, 20 to serve in connection with a shooting incident in South Rome back in 2019.

In March, a Floyd County Superior Court Jury found 34-year old Quincy Jamar Fluker guilty in the shooting of Darrius Martin at a residence at the corner of South Broad Street and Cherokee Street on August 28, 2019.

Police who responded to the scene learned that a physical altercation had occurred between Fluker and his ex-wife and Martin was shot when he tried to intervene.

In addition to the prison sentence, Fluker was also fined $10,000 and will have to pay restitution.
