Floyd County Police Department Partners with TRED for Santa Bike Patrol

December 2nd, 2020 – 11:40 AM

The Floyd County Police Department –

The Floyd County Police Department is proud to partner with TRED for our inaugural fundraiser to benefit Santa Bike Patrol, a Christmas benefit to give bicycles to children. GMC Value-Mart has already pledged support and will be helping us with a Boston butt fundraiser at their store in December.

The police department sees a variety of circumstances and situations that children face on a daily basis. Many of those children will not experience Christmas this year because of economic hardships in the home. Children don’t understand finances or budgets but they do know they won’t be receiving gifts this year. We want to be the change.

Santa Bike Patrol is a way for the Floyd County Police Department to help children have a happy holiday season. Our goal is to draw enough attention from our fundraiser that we’re able to help at least 30 children from local schools.

TRED (Trails for Recreation and Economic Development of Rome-Floyd County) is a local advocate for our trail systems, and their leadership is responsible for many of the bicycle events that occur in our area. The grassroots organization is a non-profit organization with ties to Rome and is very excited to be part of our initiative.

TRED will be helping us identify local support, ensure safety of bicycles and work with us in the distribution of bicycles in the days before Christmas.

The Boston butt fundraiser began this week and will continue until the distribution event at GMC Value Mart on December 5 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Advanced orders are encouraged because of the volume of support we have already received.

Donations of cash and check are being accepted at the Floyd County Police Department or by PayPal donation at PayPal.me/FCPDdonations.  Receipts and invoices are available upon request.  For more information, please contact Sgt. Chris Fincher at [email protected].
