[VIDEO] Tropical Storm Zeta Hits Floyd County

Tropical storm Zeta brought strong winds and heavy rains to the area this morning.

There are multiple reports of downed trees and trees on power lines.

A power pole has snapped on Avenue A.

Large tree blocking south Broad Street at Myrtle Hill.  No traffic can get through.

Coosawattee is blocked and there is flooding on Shorter Avenue at Paris Drive and on Garden Lake Boulevard.

There are several reports of trees on houses in Floyd County.

You are more likely to be without power this morning than not

More than 38,000 Georgia Power customers are without power in the Northwest Georgia area.

Around 18,000 in the Rome and Floyd County area, more than 10,000 in Polk County, 1,400 in Chattooga County, and over 9,000 in Bartow County.

You can keep up with the status of power outages HERE.

According to North Georgia EMC, more than 11,000 customers are without power in their service area which includes Calhoun and Armuchee.

With the power outages, it’s a good time to remember that if you see a traffic signal that is flashing or is out, treat that intersection as a four-way stop.

Also, do not call 911 to report power outages.

911 should be used only for emergency calls.
