Centre Man Dies in Single-Vehicle Rollover Wednesday Evening

(WEIS Radio) A Cherokee County man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle rollover on County Road 45 near County Road 202 Wednesday evening.

Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton stated 45 year old Michael Eugene Stokes, a resident of Centre, was ejected from his vehicle, a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country Van, after it left the roadway at approximately 6:50pm; Stokes – who wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash – was ejected from the vehicle.

He was transported to Floyd Cherokee Medical Center and was pronounced dead on arrival by Deputy Coroner Dr. Katherine Ammons.

Members of the Mccord’s Fire Department, Floyd Cherokee EMS, Alabama State Troopers, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Cherokee County Coroner’s Office all responded to the scene.

That wreck remains under investigation by State Troopers and Cherokee County Coroner’s Office.
