Cartersville Police Chase Ends in Emerson

May 8th, 2020 – 11:00 AM

WBHF Radio –

(Via WBHF Radio) A police chase that started in Cartersville ended in Emerson after a pit maneuver was used.

A white, Ford F-150, did not maintain its lane. When the deputy moved behind the truck, the driver made an abrupt lane change and almost struck another vehicle. The F-150 then made a right onto Church Street and pulled into the Burger King parking lot, before speeding through the area and turning onto Cherokee Street. The deputy activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop the truck, but the vehicle ran a stop sign and a red light before turning onto Tennessee Street heading towards Emerson.

The vehicle crossed over onto oncoming traffic and almost struck a semi-truck before the deputy discontinued the pursuit, due to being unable to safely follow the vehicle with the high traffic density. The subject turned onto Paga Mine Road, where the deputy then continued the pursuit, knowing it to be a lightly traveled area.

The subject turned around at the Fire Training Center before getting back onto Tennessee street while running another stop sign. The suspect then turned left onto Allatoona Dam Road and accelerated past vehicles on double-yellow lines before running yet another stop sign when turning left to take Highway 41 Southbound. The suspect approached the Red Top Connector and crossed over into Northbound traffic. As he approached Stars Way, an Emerson police officer performed a pit maneuver on the vehicle to terminate the pursuit.

The suspect was taken into custody and treated by metro EMS. He was taken to Cartersville Medical Center for medical clearance. The incident was turned over to the Georgia State Patrol.
