Plenty Of Action In Week 9 Of High School Football

Week 9 brought further clarity to the playoff possibilities for several high school football programs in Northwest Georgia including one in Floyd County that got a win and some help Friday night.
The Rome Wolves continued to turn their season around Friday with a 36-12 win over a struggling Lithia Springs team. The victory puts Rome at 5-3 and coupled with a South Paulding win over East Paulding, Rome now has control of its own playoff destiny. If they win their final two regular season games they will qualify for the postseason tournament.
Pepperell got just their second win of the season on Friday with an easy 34-0 shutout of Chattooga.
Model improved to 7-1 on the season with a 28-14 win over Coosa. Model and Calhoun, also 7-1, play next week. Both teams are also currently undefeated in region play at 5-0. Calhoun defeated Armuchee 63-10 Friday in Gordon County.
Darlington beat Mt. Zion Carroll by a 42-7 margin Friday night. The Tigers are 7-1 overall and sport a 4-0 record in region games this season.
Cartersville stayed perfect with a 47-7 win over Adairsville. The Canes are now 8-0 and 5-0 in region, while the Tigers fall to 5-3, 3-2 in region.
Finally, the Cedartown Bulldogs continued what to this point has been a special season with a 54-28 win over the Cass Colonels. Cedartown is still perfect in the standings at 8-0.
