Family Turns Son’s Disability into Inspiring Community Fitness Event

6th annual Skylar’s Run benefits Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett

Atlanta-based Blimpie owner and running enthusiast, Paul Gwin, has turned an effort to help his son into a bigger program that raises money for programs helping special needs children and inspires people across Atlanta and nationwide to compete in a series of charity road races held annually in Suwanee.

In support of Paul and Skylar, runners come from across the country, and even from England, to participate in the “Skylar’s Run” event. The first event six years ago brought out 26 runners. Roughly 1000 runners are expected this year. Almost $5000 was raised in the last two years to help fund programs for special needs children. Proceeds from this year’s race are going to Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett.

Suwanee Town Center Park and Greenway. The park is located at the intersection of Lawrenceville Suwanee Road and Buford Hwy. The 5K and 10K runs start and finish at the City of Suwanee Town Center Park amphitheater. The course travels out and back through the Greenway. The Blimpie Fun Run takes place around the Town Center Park.
