Local cancer survivors are organizing a kayak/canoe paddle fundraiser on Aug. 18 to benefit Cancer Navigators.
The event is a six-mile paddle along the Etowah River from Grizzard Park to Heritage Park.
The plan is for paddlers to be in the water by 3:30 p.m.
Paddlers will meet and park at Heritage Park where shuttles will begin running at 2 p.m. to transport them to the starting point.
The cost is a $40 per person donation to Cancer Navigators, which includes a boat and T-shirt.
The paddle is a tandem event the same day as the Coosa River Basin Initiative’s River Revelry Biodiversity Bash 6-11 p.m. at Heritage Park featuring barbecue, live music and other riverfront fun
Admission to that event is $40 per person or $35 each for two or more and includes food, beer and wine, and entertainment.
Paddlers can buy their admission to River Revelry through Cancer Navigators as well and half of the ticket price will go to Cancer Navigators.
The Cancer Navigators paddle begins at Grizzard Park at 3:30 p.m. with take out at Heritage Park, where River Revelry will be getting under way.
